The Lady Bear NecessitiesÂ
- Missouri State women's basketball kicks off a three-game road stint with a Thursday night (5 p.m. CT) contest at Indiana State. The Lady Bears have won the last 19 matchups in the series, including an 89-71 victory earlier this season when the teams met in Springfield.Â
- After finishing last season ranked 251st nationally in three-point percentage (.292), the Lady Bears have found success from behind the arc this season. Missouri State currently ranks 33rd nationally and first in The Valley, shooting at a .357 (120-336) clip from three-point range.
- Point guard Lacy Stokes (Jr., Mount Vernon, Mo.) has won MVC Newcomer of the Week six times this season. Stokes owns 11 games this season with at least five assists, and ranks 19th nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.63) and 55th in assists/game (4.8).
- Kyrah Daniels (Fr., Highlands Ranch, Colo.) continues to impress in her freshman campaign. She leads Missouri State with 32 three-point field goals on the season and is the team's leading scorer in MVC action at 12.2 points/game. She has posted double figure points in all but two conference games and is shooting 51% from the field, 50% from three and 80% from the line in Valley games.Â
- In the Beth Cunningham era, the Lady Bears are 22-3 when scoring 70+ points. Under Cunningham, Missouri State is 25-0 when allowing 65 points or less and 32-4 when holding opponents to 70 points or less.Â
- Defense and rebounding has been vital to the Lady Bears' success this season. Missouri State ranks second in The Valley in scoring defense, holding opponents to 65.2 points/game. The Lady Bears also rank second in the MVC in rebounding defense (30.9) and rebounding margin (+5.0), both marks trailing only first-place Drake.Â
- MSU is 12-1 this season when winning the battle on the boards, 13-2 when owning more assists than its opponents and is undefeated at 8-0 when knocking down more free throws than its competition.Â
- Three Lady Bears average double figure points this season for MSU - Lacy Stokes (10.8), Kennedy Taylor (10.7) and Kyrah Daniels (10.0). Stokes also leads MSU with 100 assists and 40 steals on the year, while Taylor owns a team-leading 21 blocked shots. Meanwhile, Daniels leads the team in three-point percentage of those who have at least five attempts (.410) and in three-point field goals (32).Â
- Missouri State is 5-0 this season in games decided by five points or less. The Lady Bears have won those five games by a combined 10 points.Â
The Series
   Missouri State leads the all-time series against Indiana State, 68-18, including a 28-12 record on the road. The Lady Bears have won the last 19 matchups against the Sycamores, with MSU's last loss in the series occurring on Feb. 21, 2014 in Springfield by a score of 73-37.
   The two teams met earlier this season in Springfield with Missouri State earning an 89-71 victory. After leading by just two at the half, the Lady Bears used two important runs in the second half to take control of the game. After the Sycamores cut the MSU lead to one point, the Lady Bears went on an 18-5 surge in the third to take a nine-point lead into the fourth. Then, MSU kept the momentum going, starting the fourth period on a 15-2 run to eventually claim an 18-point home win. Five Lady Bears scored in double figures, led by
Jade Masogayo with 15 and
Lacy Stokes with 14.Â
   In MSU's last trip to Terre Haute, the Lady Bears used an important third quarter run to secure a nine-point road win. Missouri State was led by
Sydney Wilson (16 points) and
Kennedy Taylor (10 points, 9 rebounds).
Paige Rocca added nine points and
Indya Green also collected nine boards.Â
