Bears Add Transfer GG Carvacho for 2024

January 09, 2024

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State continued to bolster its 2024 volleyball roster with the signing of GG Carvacho on Tuesday, a transfer outside hitter with four years of Power Five experience at both Ole Miss and Virginia. Carvacho will join the Bears in the spring 2024 semester.

"I recruited and signed GG in 2019 at Ole Miss, so I have watched her play for a long time," said Missouri State head coach Steven McRoberts. "I'm grateful that our paths have crossed again. She is a leader who brings a lot of experience to our team. Her personality is infectious and I'm excited to help her finish her career strong at Missouri State!"

Carvacho played the 2020 and 2021 seasons at Ole Miss and 2022 and 2023 campaigns at Virginia, totaling 402 kills (1.73/set), 110 digs and 98 blocks in 75 matches over four collegiate seasons.

While at Ole Miss, she earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Nov. 24, 2020, following a 20-kill match against eighth-ranked Missouri, and averaged 2.35 kills per set over two seasons. Carvacho's two-year stint at Virginia was highlighted by the fifth-best match attack efficiency in Cavalier history, when she hit .476 with 12 kills against Charlotte in September 2022.

Prior to college, Carvacho tallied over 700 kills and 500 digs at Station Camp High in Gallatin, Tenn., and played for the U20 Chilean National Team in the summer of 2019, competing in the Pan American Cup in Lima, Peru, where she finished the tournament as the third-highest overall scorer.
