DALLAS – Missouri State freshman Hannah Gardner was honored Monday as the Conference USA Freshman of the Week. She is the second MoState rookie to earn the award this season after Peyton McKee won on Sept. 8.
 
Gardner averaged 2.63 kills, 5.75 assists, 2.38 digs and 0.63 blocks per set in the weekend sweep of New Mexico State, including her second triple-double of the season on Saturday. The Springfield native tallied career highs of 15 kills (on .324 hitting) and 28 assists in addition to 11 digs in the MSU win, collecting another triple-double after becoming the first freshman in school history to record one in September.
 
On Friday, Gardner totaled six kills, 18 assists and eight digs in the Bears' sweep of the Aggies.
 
The Bears (8-11, 3-5 CUSA) are home this weekend to face Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
