SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's soccer head coach Kirk Nelson has announced today that assistant coach Cory Herchenroeder has been promoted to associate head coach.

"Cory has been right by my side since a became a new head coach here. Through the entire journey, I have trusted him to help build this very special program and he has exceeded expectations," Nelson said.

Herchenroeder helped lead the Bears to a conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance last year for just the third time in team history. He will continue to work primarily with goalkeepers and back line.

"It is only fitting that Cory be promoted. I am very proud that he is here and look forward to more great things to come," Nelson said.

The Bears kick off the 2023 season with an exhibition match tomorrow against Kansas State at noon against Kansas State. Admission at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium is free.
