Kristensen Goal Secures Road Win at Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – Julia Kristensen's 65th-minute goal lifted Missouri State to a 1-0 victory over Central Arkansas on Thursday night at the Bill Stephens Complex, giving head coach Kirk Nelson his 40th career win at the helm.

Kristensen broke the deadlock with a strike to the bottom right corner off a set piece delivery from Abby Hansen, who collected her fourth assist of the season. The senior forward paced led the Bears' attack with five shots, while Riley Smith created chances down the wing and contributed on both ends of the field.

Missouri State's defense was strong throughout, holding Central Arkansas to just six total shots and including just one on target. Ella Becker stopped the lone attempt to preserve the clean sheet and earning her second shutout of the year.

The Bears controlled much of the second half, outshooting central Arkansas, 15-6, and placing seven attempts on target.

"Positive result to close out our non-conference slate," Nelson said. "It was a battle till to the end and was a full team effort to get the shutout on the road, and the 40th win since this staff took over the program. Now we focus on a new era and starting CUSA!"

Missouri State opens Conference USA play at Liberty on Friday, Sept. 19, at 2:30 p.m. marking the start of a new era for the program.
