SPRINGFIELD – The first-place Missouri State women's soccer team remained undefeated in Missouri Valley Conference play after drawing with second-place Drake, 0-0, Thursday night.
With first place on the line at Allison South Stadium, the Bears (8-1-5, 3-0-3 MVC) outshot the visiting Bulldogs, 19-8, but could not put the ball in the net. Despite the deadlock, MSU remains one of three unbeaten teams in MVC play.
"I am extremely happy with our entire team's ability to shut out strong opponents. We have been very good at that, including tonight," head coach Kirk Nelson said. "Now we have to continue to focus on our execution in the final third to score goals. I'm proud of the team's consistent high intensity and ability to battle. Points are extremely valuable, and we look forward to these last few matches to fight for as many as we can get."
In securing her eighth shutout of the season, Camielle Day recorded three saves to keep the visitors in check.
Missouri State's fifth tie of the season matched a program record, achieved previously in 2005 and 2021.
After a rare weekend off, the Bears are back on the road next Thursday when they travel to Indiana State at 3:00 p.m. The game will air on ESPN+.
