Cross Checking the Bears

  • MSU will send 16 of its 17 athletes to compete at the Chile Pepper Festival, the most Bears to compete in a meet so far this season.

  • This is the 34th year the University of Arkansas has held its annual meet. Dating back to 2015, the Bears have competed in the meet every year, except for the team's altered season due to Covid-19 in 2020.

  • Edna Dar has led the Bears in their first two outings of the season, earning overall finishes of 12th (18:22.5) and 35th (18:34.0) at the Mizzou XC Opener and the John McNichols Invitational.

  • The Bears are set to compete in four 5-kilometer races and two 6-kilometer races this fall.

  • MSU is coming off a seventh-place team finish two weeks ago, racing against athletes from 17 schools, including 14 Division I institutions.

  • The Bears' roster holds a wealth of experience with five returning seniors. The team also houses five newcomers, including four freshmen.

  • Head coach Jordan Fife is in his ninth season as the women's head cross country coach and his fifth as the school's Director of Track and Field and Cross Country.

  • Friday's meet will be held at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark. MSU is one of 34 schools who will be competing.

  • Last season, MSU earned a 13th-place team finish out of 39 schools.

The 5-kilometer race in Fayetteville, Ark., will take place at Agri Park Course and will begin at 4:30 p.m.
