Bruseth, Yari Land Spots on Mac Hermann Watch List

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State's Aadne Bruseth and Kian Yari have been named to the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy 38-player watch list, the organization announced Thursday.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual honor that a Division I soccer player can receive, and it has been awarded every year since 1967. Following the regular season, the pool of players will be narrowed to 15 following United Soccer Coaches Division I All-America voting. The finalists will be announced on Nov. 30.
This marks the third-straight year that MSU men's soccer is represented on the list. At the conclusion of last season, former Bear Kyle Hiebert was announced as finalist for the award.
Bruseth earns a spot on the watch list entering his fifth season with the Bears. In 2021, the Batnfjordsøra, Norway, native appeared in all 19 games while making 17 starts. He scored one goal over his 1,289 minutes on the pitch, while adding five assists.
Yari makes the list after a breakout junior campaign in which he started 18 of the Bears' 19 matches while logging a total of 1,447 minutes. During the 2021 season, he led MSU in assists with eight, tallying two against Central Arkansas. Yari ended the season tied for most assists in the MVC, earning the distinction of Midfielder of the Year. His efforts on and off the field led him to be named both an All-American and a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
The pair is part of a core of returning players for Missouri State this fall which has garnered preseason recognition both nationally and at the conference level. MSU will start its season ranked 19th in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, and was voted as the favorite to win the MVC crown.
The Bears kick off their regular season at 87 p.m. CT on Thursday night at home against UC Santa Barbara.
