ARLINGTON, Texas – Missouri State could not recover from Cal Poly's three-run first inning Saturday, falling 5-1 to the Mustangs in the first game of a three-game set that was relocated from Springfield to Clay Gould Ballpark on the University of Texas at Arlington campus.
Cal Poly (3-2) followed a two-out walk with a double and two singles in the top of the first to stake starter Drew Thorpe (1-0), who struck out 10 in seven innings, to a 3-0 lead.
The Mustangs made it 4-0 on a two-out single from Brooks Lee, a projected first round pick in the 2022 draft, in the fourth frame.
Missouri State (2-3) got its only run in the fifth courtesy of

Grant Wood.
Cal Poly opened the sixth with a pair of doubles to make it 5-1 and end starter
Adam Link's (1-1) day.
Forrest Barnes pitched the next 3.1 innings before freshman
Ty Blecha got the final two outs to cap four scoreless innings for the MSU bullpen.
The teams meet again Sunday for an 11 a.m. doubleheader.
