Storylines for the Weekend
1) Missouri State is back on the road for the fifth time in six weekends when it travels to the Hoosier State to play Indiana State (2-10, 1-3 MVC) at 5 p.m. Friday and Evansville (5-13, 2-2) at 5 p.m. Saturday.
2) The Bears started 2-0 in MVC play for the second time in the last three seasons and 15th time in 31 years in the Valley. MSU has never finished below third in the final standings after a 2-0 start, going on to regular season titles four times, second place finishes on seven occasions and ending in third place three times.
3) MSU has 18 games scheduled in Missouri this season, with three-game tournaments at Missouri and Saint Louis in addition to 12 home contests.
4) Missouri State is 12-8 in five-setters under third-year head coach Steven McRoberts.The Bears are averaging 4.06 sets per match this year and have only eclipsed four on one other other occasions, the spring 2021 campaign.
5) The Bears rank 64th nationally with 15.38 digs per set and 28th in total digs. Those numbers come from a balanced defensive effort with five players averaging at least 2.11 digs per set.
6) Senior Azyah Green has led MSU in blocking each of her first three seasons and is on pace to do so again this year. All-American Linette White is the last Bear to lead the club three years in a row, doing so in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The last player to lead the team in four consecutive years was Mindy Struckhoff from 1985-88. Green ranks 13th in school history with 410 career blocks and 11th with a 1.07 per set average. That average is the highest for any player who played exclusively in the 25-point scoring era (since 2008).
7) MSU has notched the top two ace averages since the 25-point scoring era began in the last two seasons, posting 1.61 per set in 2020-21 and 1.38 last season, and this year's average sits between those at 1.49. The 2022 MSU roster has served a combined 225 aces in the Maroon and White.

MSU is 71-3 all-time against Indiana State, with losses coming in 1994, 2019 and 2021. The most recent two setbacks to the Sycamores were in Terre Haute.
   The Bears are 51-6 all-time against Evansville. Each team won on its home floor last season.
