Bears Add Mason Greer to Baseball Signing Class

April 14, 2021

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State received a National Letter of Intent from switch-hitting infielder Mason Greer this week, adding another solid piece to its 2022 roster after getting 12 commitments in November.

Greer, whose father Rusty was a career .305 hitter in nine big league seasons with the Texas Rangers, hails from Colleyville, Texas, where he graduated from Heritage High before playing at Auburn in 2020 and McLennan Community College this season.

"Mason is a middle of the order, switch-hitting infielder who brings talent, experience, and versatility to our roster next year," said Missouri State assistant coach Matt Lawson. "He had valuable game experience at Auburn his freshman year and has performed extremely well against good pitching at McLennan this year. We're excited to add him to what we feel like is a great recruiting class next year."

Greer currently leads McLennan through April 13 of this season with a .363 batting average, 13 homers and 42 RBI in 35 games, adding a .705 slugging percentage. At Auburn in 2020, he went 3-for-10 with two doubles and four RBI in seven games and has played all four infield positions during his college career.

At Colleyville (Texas) Heritage High, Greer was a top-50 prospect in Texas and three-time Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American. He earned all-state honors in 2018 and was drafted in the 37th round of the 2019 draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
