No. 24 Arkansas Scores Late, Tops Bears 12-4

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas scored all of its runs in the final three innings Tuesday evening at Baum-Walker Stadium to rally for a 12-4 win over Missouri State for a split in the season series.

The 24th-ranked Razorbacks (27-15) took the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth on Carter Rutenbar's two-run single and added six more after that on a double and two homers for the 12-4 final margin.

The late rally overshadowed a great start by Mo State senior Brock Lucas, who took a shutout into the sixth and finished with a career-best 5.1 innings with seven strikeouts and two unearned runs.

The Bears (26-12) took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Carter Bergman and Jax Ryan, but a pair of errors in the sixth allowed the Razorbacks to get on the board with three unearned runs.

Bryce Cermenelli singled and eventually scored on an error for a 3-3 score in the seventh, Arkansas led off its half of the seventh with a solo blast to make it 4-3, and Curry Sutherland launched the first pitch of the eighth well beyond the left field wall for his 13th homer of the year and a 4-4 tie.

Cermenelli went 2-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to 21 games, tying for the seventh-longest in program history. Sutherland and Gabe Roessler also collected two hits each. Logan Fyffe improved his hit streak to 12 games.

Missouri State stays on the road for a three-game series at Louisiana Tech from April 24-26. First pitch for Friday's opener in Ruston is set for 6 p.m.
