SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Missouri State men's golf team dropped a two-day, 36-hole dual meet to Northern Illinois, 572-592, Friday and Saturday (Feb. 26-27) in its second competition of the spring. The Bears hosted the Huskies at Highland Springs Country Club on Friday and Twin Oaks Country Club the following day.
NIU took a five-shot lead after the first day, 290-295, and then outdistanced the Bears, 282-297, Saturday at Twin Oaks.
Overall for the tournament, senior Chris Obert led MSU, shooting 69-74--143 to place third, while
Crimson Callahan was next with a fifth-place showing, posting 77-71--148. Next for the Bears came
Eric Schuessler in a seventh-place tie with 76-74--150 and
Carter Lee, ninth with 74-78--152. Five Bears placed 12th thru 16th --
Max Kreikemeier (76-78--154),
Eric Byun (82-80--162), Austin Gilland (82-81--163),
Lukas McCalla (88-76--164) and JP LaValle (84-82--166). Medalist was NIU's Tommy Dunsire, who fired 72-66-138.
The Bears are back in action next Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 8-9) at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in suburban Houston, Texas.
