The Missouri State Bears host a ranked Oklahoma State club at Hammons Field Tuesday at 3 p.m. before heading to Conway, Ark., to face Tarleton State at noon on Saturday and return a visit to Central Arkansas at 1 p.m. Sunday. MSU is 4-1 on the year for the first time since 2017 and the sixth time in the last nine seasons after sweeping a two-game set from Oral Roberts and winning a home series with Central Arkansas.

Prime 9
1)  Missouri State is off to a 4-1 start for the first time since 2017 and the sixth time in the last nine seasons after sweeping a two-game set from Oral Roberts and winning a home series with Central Arkansas.

2) Oklahoma State is currently ranked 14th according to the NCBWA poll and will be the first top-25 team to visit Hammons Field since April 2019. The Bears last earned a top-25 win at No. 24 East Carolina on March 3, 2018.

3) The Bears will go against a familiar face in Saturday's neutral site contest with Tarleton State in Conway, Ark. Aaron Meade is in his second season as the head coach of the Texans, and pitched for the Bears from 2008-10. The southpaw still ranks fifth in school history in career starts (41) and was a first-team all-MVC selection in 2009.

4) Missouri State has four college graduates on the roster, with Jack Duffy, Logan Geha, Ben Whetstone and Logan Wiley each electing to use the additional season eligibility granted to 2020 spring athletes.

5) The Bears' roster features five players who have earned all-Missouri Valley Conference honors during their respective careers, led by former Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America picks Ty Buckner and Dakota Kotowski;  Buckner was a second-team choice in 2018, Kotowski earned first team and Freshman of the Year honors in 2019, while Jack Duffy (second team), Logan Wiley (second team) and Ben Whetstone (honorable mention) were also honored that season. Additionally, Grant Wood was the Ohio Valley Freshman of the Year in 2018 at Murray State.

6) The Bears trail Oklahoma State 16-8 in the all-time series and won the last meeting on March 3 of last season in Stillwater, 11-10. MSU is 4-4 against the Cowboys in Springfield. Missouri State has never played Tarleton and leads Central Arkansas 21-8 after taking two of three in a Feb. 26-28 series at Hammons Field.

7) The Bears have won 47 of their last 72 regular-season non-conference home games.

8) Keith Guttin currently ranks third on the NCAA's Division I wins list for active coaches and 19th all-time with 1,292 for his 39-year career; he is 8 wins away from Fresno State's Bob Bennett in the 18th spot on the chart.

9) Missouri State ranks ninth nationally in batting average (.331), 12th in on-base percentage (.435), 26th in slugging (.486) and 28th in scoring (8.4). The Bears have scored 42 runs in five games, and did not score their 42nd run until game 12 last season. Individually, Jack Duffy ranks 5th nationally in runs (2.0/game) and 8th in hits (2.2/game), while Ben Whetstone is 11th in walks (1.6/game) and 20th in OBP (.615). Both rank in the top 50 in batting average.
