SPRINGFIELD – After a plethora of impressive individual performances at the Purdue Invitational, the Missouri State Swimming and Diving programs are set to welcome in-state rival, Missouri for a dual at Hammons Student Center on Saturday at Noon.

- Missouri State features nine individuals with Top-100 times nationally this season. Women with Top-100 times include: Anna Miller (50 freestyle: 22.13, 15th), Libby Howell (200 freestyle: 1:47.20, 51st, 500 freestyle: 4:48.47., 77th, 1000 freestyle: 10:04.99, 80th, 1650 freestyle: 16:54.99, 95th), Sam Hietpas (1650 freestyle: 16:51.38, 83rd) and Vera Margula (1650 freestyle: 16:55.19, 96th). Five men are currently in the Top-100 nationally. Pawel Krawczyk leads the way with three Top-100 times (200 butterfly: 1:46.07, 58th, 500 freestyle: 4:21.99, 62nd, 1650 freestyle: 15:27.19, 63rd). Other Bears in the Top-100 include: Dylan Moffatt (1000 freestyle: 9:11.64, 43rd, 1650 freestyle, 15:09.94, 28th), Arthur Cury (200 freestyle: 1:36.52, 86th), AJ Huskey (400 IM: 3:52.62, 86th) and Robbie Hill (200 backstroke: 1:46.27, 99th).
- Both squads hold Top-100 marks in the 200 freestyle relay (men: 68th, women 70th), 400 freestyle relay (men: 44th, women: 39th), 800 freestyle relay (men: 29th, women: 60th), 200 medley relay (men: 45th, women: 66th), 400 medley relay (men: 39th, women 59th).
- The Bears recorded a fifth-place finish their last time out at the Purdue Invitational (Nov. 18-20).
- Miller broke her school and MVC record by registering a time of 22.13 to win the 50 freestyle at the Purdue Invitational. The time was the sixth-fastest among all collegiate swimmers this year, breaking her previous record by over one-tenth of a second. Miller also recorded a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle by clocking a time of 48.70, which was the second-fastest time in school history.
- Miller, Jordan Wenner, Howell and Sami Roemer combined to swim the women's 400 freestyle relay in 3:20.82, good for fifth-place.Â
- In the 800 freestyle relay, Anna Lucas, Wenner Howell and Roemer swam the seventh-fastest relay time in school history with a time of 7:29.30.
- Roemer had an impressive showing in the 400 IM when she swam a 4:25.32 to place sixth.
- Hieptas placed third in the 1,650 freestyle by registering a time of 16:51.38. Â
- Miller has continued her success this season, having already garnered eight individual wins and tallying nine top-five finishes this season. She has twice collected MVC Swimmer of the Week honors on Oct. 13 and Nov. 23.
- Howell posted a trio of top-five finishes at Purdue by placing second in the 200 (1:47.20) and 500 (4:48.47) freestyles while recording a fifth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle (16:54.99). She collected MVC Swimmer of the Week honors on November 10, after her three individual wins in the Bears' 221-132 win over Indiana State on Nov. 5-6. Howell is the only MVC swimmer to go a perfect 12-for-12 in her career and she currently holds school records in the 200, 1,000 and 1,650 freestyles.
- Adrianna Avila has paced the Bears on both boards this season with marks of 239.40 in 1-meter diving and 243.52 in 3-meter competition.
- Missouri State defeated MVC foe Indiana State, 221-132 at Hammons Student Center on Nov. 5-6.
- The Bears defeated South Dakota and fell to Kansas in the Kansas Tri-Duals on Oct. 22-23 in Lawrence, Kan.
- Missouri State placed fifth against a strong tournament field at the TYR Invitational on Oct. 9 with a score of 247 points.
- The Bears have been in a league of its own when it comes to conference championships, having won five in a row and 17 of the last 19 MVC titles.
- Mizzou is 3-1 in duals this season with wins over Southern Illinois (145-95) and Arkansas (174.50-125.50) and Purdue (179-121). The Tigers' lone loss came to Michigan on Nov. 5. This will be the Bears' 20th meeting with Mizzou all-time.
- The Bears are undefeated in head-to-head duals this season with wins over Southern Illinois and Missouri S&T.
- Missouri State finished fourth at the Purdue Invitational its last time out (Nov. 18-20).
- Dylan Moffatt won the 1,650 freestyle with a blistering time of 15:09.94.
- Krawczyk was impressive in the 500 freestyle by swimming the event in 4:21.99 to take second. The time was the fastest among all Mid-American Conference swimmers this year.
- The quartet of Krawczyk, Brunno Suzuki, Moffatt and Cury placed fourth in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:32.80. The mark was the eighth-fastest in MSU history.
- Huskey paced the Bears in the 400 IM, registering a time of 3:52.62. Following Huskey was Tyler Lewis (3:56.56) in seventh and Moffatt.
- Robbie Hill placed seventh in the 200 IM by clocking in at 1:47.90. Hill currently holds MAC-best times in the 50 and 100 backstrokes.
- Arthur Cury swam the fastest time in the MAC this season with a 1:36.52, 200 Freestyle which was good for ninth-place.
- Moffatt holds a MAC-best time of 9:11.64 in the 1,000 freestyle.
- This season, John David Spence has led MSU on the boards with bests of 258.90 (1-Meter) and 322.65 (3-Meter).
- In their last dual at Hammons Student Center, the Bears were dominant, defeating Missouri S&T, 211.5-102.5, on Nov. 5-6.
- Missouri State defeated South Dakota in the Kansas Duals, 174-158, on Oct. 23.
- Arthur Cury was named MAC swimmer of the week on Oct. 29. Cury recorded three wins in a two-day dual against South Dakota on Oct. 22-23. On day one, the Curitiba, Parana, Brazil, native won the 200 freestyle with a blistering time of 1:42.36, as well as the 200 IM, finishing the event in 1:55.19. Cury added a third victory to his weekend with a win in the 100 butterfly on the final day of the dual, clocking in at 51.10. He also helped lead the men's 400 meter relay squad to victory with a time of 3:06.45. Cury is a two-time all-MAC first-team selection, having garnered five gold medals, four silvers and one bronze at the MAC Championships during his career.
- The Bears defeated Southern Illinois in the season opener on Oct. 2, 205.5-145.5.
- Mizzou is 2-1 in duals this season with wins over Southern Illinois (148-92) and Purdue (160-139). The Tigers' lone loss came to Michigan on Nov. 5. This will be the Bears' 20th meeting with Mizzou all-time. The dual will mark the 30th meeting all-time between the programs with the Tigers' leading the all-time series 21-8.
Coach Dave Collins
- Dave Collins (Drury, 2005) is in his 11th season as Missouri State head coach.
- Collins garnered Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2021.
- Under Collins' watch, the Bears have won nine MVC titles and three MAC championships.
- In 2020-21, Collins guided the women to their fifth-straight Valley title and 17th overall. The MSU women ran away with the crown after winning seven individual and three relay events to finish with 929.50 points. The Bears' 381-point margin of victory was a program best. The MSU men finished second at the MAC Championships, claiming 10 conference champion citations throughout the meet. Michael Claunch qualified for the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships for the third time on both the 1-and-3 meter boards.
- As head coach, Collins and the Bears' staff have produced 45 all-MVC first team selections and 22 all-MAC first-teamers. Collins has also coached six conference swimmers of the year, a list that includes Anna Miller (2021), Dora Kiss (2016, '12), Lauren Pavel (2015, '17), Renata Sander (2011-14) and Uvis Kalnins (2014). Academically, with team GPAs of 3.0 or higher, both Bear squads have annually earned CSCAA Scholar All-America team honors.
- Since his arrival at Missouri State, the Bears have broken all men's and women's school records in the non-freestyle events.
- Collins has taken the Bears' recruiting efforts to new heights. He and his coaching staff are responsible for signing Missouri State's first top-100 recruit: 2012 Olympian Uvis Kalnins of Latvia. CollegeSwimming.com listed Kalnins as the No. 68 overall swimmer in the 2012 recruiting class.
- Before becoming head coach, Collins served as an assistant for four seasons at Missouri State under MSU Hall of Famer Jack Steck.
- Following the showdown with Mizzou, the Bears host another in-state foe when Drury visits Hammons Student Center on Dec. 17. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
