SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Central Arkansas in double overtime Thursday night in the home opener at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.
Missouri State recorded three shots in the first half and four in the second. With four minutes left in regulation,
Kennady Orlick aimed to put MSU ahead, firing an on-target shot that was pushed out by the fingertips of UCA's goalkeeper, Reagan McCombs, sending the game into overtime.
The first overtime saw three shots from UCA and a save by
Kaitlin Maxwell, but the score remained 0-0.
UCA's Hadley Dickinson found the back of the net with 69 seconds left in the second overtime to seal the win, 1-0.
"They really gave it everything they had," Missouri State head coach
Rob Brewer said. "It was a good challenge, but I think we were a little bit unlucky with a couple of really close shots. But, I think we are making a lot of progress."
MSU tallied seven shots total, with four of those being on goal. Maxwell faced 17 shots in goal from UCA and recorded seven saves.
The Bears will continue the home stand Monday, Oct. 26 against the Missouri Southern State Lions beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.
