ST. LOUIS – Adyson Delaney of the Missouri State women's cross country team was named Missouri Valley Conference Performer of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday (Oct. 20).
Delaney, a junior from Eureka, Mo., earned top-scoring honors after finishing first among collegiate runners at the Little Rock Open on Saturday (Oct. 17). Her 5K time of 18:38.2 set the pace for a Bears squad that placed five runners in the top-15 to claim the meet title in Little Rock, Ark. and close out their fall campaign on a high note.
As a three-year distance runner for head coach
Jordan Fife, Delaney has scored in nine consecutive meets after a strong showing at the Cowboy Jamboree (Oct. 3) and scoring in all seven races in 2019. She has also been a mainstay for Fife's distance group on the MSU track and field team, competing in 12 meets thru her first two years as a Bear. Delaney set a personal best in the 3,000-meter run (10:15.80) and finished 13th at the 2020 MVC Indoor Championship.
Delaney and the Bears concluded a shortened fall season this past weekend with their victory at the Little Rock Open. Along with Saturday's meet, Missouri State competed at the highly-competitive Cowboy Jamboree on Oct. 3 and finished seventh in the 6K race.
