
Bish, Osvath Head to Austin for NCAA Championships

SPRINGFIELD – Dynamic duo Blair Bish and Artur Osvath head to the 2019 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship from March 27-30 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas.

Bish and Osvath are both seeded to compete in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, respectively. In the 100 breaststroke, Bish is the 24th seed while Osvath landed at 40th, while, going to the 200 breaststroke Osvath holds the advantage as the 21st seed, compared to Bish at 50th.

The 100 breaststroke will take place Friday, March 29 and 200 breaststroke events take place Saturday, March 30.

Both Bears stand in the men's top 100 rankings for the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Bish ranks among the top 25 in the 100 breaststroke, landing at 24th with a time of 52.34. He is also 84th in the 200 breaststroke.

Osvath comes in at 58th in the 100, but boasts a 21st ranking in the 200 breaststroke at 1:53.68.

This will be Bish's fourth time at the championships, his second as a Bear, while the trip is Osvath's third appearance on the big stage.

This marks the seventh straight year Missouri State will be recognized on the national stage.

Bish earned his place at the NCAA championships at Iowa Hawkeye Invitational earlier this season, posting a time of 52.34 in the 100 breaststroke. The time held throughout the year and is a personal and team season-best.

A two-time All-Mid-American Conference first team selection, Bish impressed at the MAC Championship, notching a gold medal in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 52.86. He also swam a leg in the team's 200 freestyle and 400 medley relay victories.

Osvath set both the Rolfs Aquatic Center and MSU team record with a time of 1:53.68 in a 200 breaststroke time trial at the Shamrock Invitational to solidify his spot at the NCAA Championships. At the same meet, he broke another facility and program record, recording a 1:43.98 in the 200 butterfly.

At the Mid-American Conference championships, Osvath garnered the gold in the 200 IM and swam a leg in the 400 medley relay win. His efforts earned him his fourth All-MAC first team honor, along with being named the "Most Outstanding Senior" in the league.

He also won MAC Swimmer of the Week three times this season for his performances at the Shamrock Invitational, Drury, and nationally-ranked Missouri.

The championships will be held March 27 – 30 at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center, hosted by the University of Texas.

ESPN3 will live stream finals sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, along with the 1650 freestyle race. Friday and Saturday's sessions will air on ESPNU, while prelims/diving consolations will be streamed free through Texas Sports. Live stats will also be provided throughout the meet.
