Bears Welcome Evansville for MVC Quarterfinal Battle

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team secured the No. 3 seed and the home advantage in the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal round against No. 6 Evansville on Sunday, Nov. 3 at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.

Missouri State Quick Kicks:
  • The Bears claimed the No. 3 MVC tournament seed and the home advantage with their 2-1 rally at Indiana State in both clubs' regular-season finale. Betty & Bobby Allison is the host site for the MVC Women's Soccer Championship happening Nov. 8-10.
  • Sunday's winner moves on to the semifinals and faces No. 2 Illinois State.
  • Indiana State struck first with the quick score in the fourth minute, but unanswered MSU goals from Anna Durnin and Jordan Eickelman completed the Bears comeback bid for their tenth win of 2019.
  • Eickelman's game-winner against the Sycamores moved her up in the Bears' scoring standings, tying her alongside Kennady Orlick for a team-best four goals. The junior forward has also tallied three assists for a MSU-high 11 points.
  • MSU' defense held tough in the road outing as Kaitlin Maxwell hauled in a season-high 10 saves in the Bears 2-1 win over Indiana State. The Sycamores outshot MSU 11-2 in the second half.
  • This is MSU's second meeting with the Purple Aces, previously forcing a double-overtime draw, 1-1, on the road.
Scouting Evansville:
  • The Purple Aces finished the regular-season 2-11-3 and 1-4-2 in league play to squeeze into the No. 6 spot in the MVC Women's Soccer Championship bracket. This is Evansville's second-straight year earning the final seed, last year advancing to the semifinals after taking UNI to a 0-0 draw and winning on PKs (3-2).
  • Michaela Till leads the Valley in several goalkeeping statistical categories including saves (85) and saves per game (5.67). Her 12 saves versus Middle Tennessee is a league-best this season.
  • Evansville checked the win column once in MVC action, shutting out UNI in a 1-0 road contest. Amanda DaSilva scored in the 83rd minute to put the Aces on top, becoming one of six different players to find the net this season.
  • Emily Ormson and Emily Wolak pace Evansville's offense with a team-best two goals each in 2019. The Purple Aces have scored twice throughout conference play.
Series History:
  • Evansville owns the 15-9-7 series lead over the Bears.
  • Both squads' played to full time in their last meeting, forcing a double-overtime 1-1 draw. Orlick erased an early Evansville lead, scoring the tying goal in the second half.
