Meet Results

STILLWATER, Okla. – The Missouri State women's cross country team closed out the 2019 season with a 20th-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet in Stillwater, Okla. here Friday.  The Bears matched Saint Louis with 602 points in the team standings, but won the tiebreaker with a 3-2 advantage in the head-to-head between the teams' top-five runners.

MSU tied for its highest placing at the regional meet since the 2010 team recorded a 14th-place finish.  It's the second top-20 finish in the past three seasons for the Bears after finishing 20th in 2017.

"Today was a very solid team effort, we raced aggressively which is all you can ask for," said head coach Jordan Fife.  "It's a good sign that we were ready and confident coming off the starting line."

Sophomore Edna Dar posted a personal best time of 22:29.7 to finish 97th, earning her top-scoring honors for the Bears.  Grace Breiten followed right behind Dar in the 98th-place, crossing at the 22:30.8 mark.

Shelby Palmer (125th), Erica Wollmering (146th), and Adyson Delaney (150) rounded out the scoring for MSU with all of them finishing inside the top-150.  Palmer shaved four seconds off of her personal best with a 22:55.3.  Racing in her third regional meet, Wollmering turned in a time of 23:14.9 with Delaney finishing a few seconds behind her (23:20.8).

"We could have been a little better in some spots today, but I'm very proud of our team," added Fife.  "It's been a fun year and to tie our best finish since 2010 says that we continue to head in the right direction."

The MSU squad closes the books on a 2019 season that saw the Bears claim their first team title since 2013 at the Southern Stampede on Sept. 21.  Missouri State placed three runners inside the top-30 to earn a fifth-place finish at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Nov. 2.

The distance Bears will turn their attention to the upcoming indoor track and field season.  MSU opens the indoor slate with the Arkansas Invitational on Jan. 17 in Fayetteville, Ark.
