Paige Rocca • 5-9 • G • Iowa City, Iowa • Iowa City High
Rocca (pronounced ROCK-uh) has been a part of three conference championship teams through three seasons at Iowa City High, where she has helped the Little Hawks to combined 67-6 record in her career while playing point guard and shooting guard. Rocca shot 44 percent overall and 37 percent on 3-pointers as a sophomore, earning second-team all-conference honors for a team that finished 25-1 after suffering its first loss in the Class 5A state title game. She repeated as a second-team all-conference choice her junior season after shooting 32 percent from long range and 91 percent at the foul line on a state quarterfinalist, and was part of a 23-2 club her freshman year that also advanced to the final eight at the state tournament.
Coach Mox on Rocca:
"I'm super excited Paige is now officially a Lady Bear! She is an extraordinary young lady who will impact our program on and off the court. She too comes from an amazing faithful family who meshed seamlessly with our Lady Bear family. Paige is a relentless competitor! She is a shooter who can shoot the leather off the ball, all while keeping the defense honest as a triple threat scorer. Her savvy game will help us be successful and contribute to our high-powered offense. I can't wait to see her light shine here at Missouri State."
Dani Winslow • 6-1 • F • Olathe, Kan. • Olathe South High
Dani Winslow adds her name to a solid group of Kansas City area players on the MSU roster, and is coming off a junior season in which she averaged 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists per game to earn first-team all-state honors from multiple outlets and was named a Kansas Player of the Year finalist. She tallied 11 points, six boards and two assists per game during an honorable mention all-state sophomore season and helped the Falcons to a 20-5 record and third-place state finish while averaging eight points and six rebounds as freshman. Also a track and field star, Winslow finished second at the state meet in the high jump as a junior and third as a sophomore, and owns three top-five finishes in the 300-meter hurdles
.
Coach Mox on Winslow:
"I'm extremely ecstatic to officially welcome Dani to our Lady Bear Family! She is an amazing young lady who embodies all the characteristics it takes to be a Lady Bear and to represent our FAB philosophy in a first-class manner. Not only is she a high character kid who comes from a great family, her basketball ceiling is extremely high. She is a hybrid 4/3 player that can impact the game on both ends of the floor. She is athletic and fast and fits right into our up-tempo style of play. I look forward to her successful career here at Missouri State."
