Four Lady Bears Earn Conference USA Postseason Accolades

DALLAS – Missouri State women's basketball had four student-athletes garner Conference USA postseason accolades, the league announced today.
 
Kaemyn Bekemeier earns first-team All-CUSA honors, while Lainie Douglas lands on the All-CUSA second team. Additionally, Maycee James secures a spot on the CUSA All-Defensive Team and Maiesha Washington represents the Lady Bears on the CUSA All-Freshman Team.
 
Bekemeier earns a first-team all-conference nod following a stellar junior season that featured four conference player of the week honors. In CUSA games, she averaged 17.5 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, which ranked second and seventh in the league, respectively. In 18 conference games, she shot .378 (90-238) from the field, .324 (35-108) from three and .870 (100-115) from the charity stripe. The Republic, Mo., native ranked second in the league in free throw percentage and ninth in field goal percentage. Bekemeier posted 15 double-figure scoring performances, including eight games with at least 20 points, and five double-doubles against conference opponents.
 
Douglas lands on the all-conference second team after a strong sophomore campaign. In 18 conference games, she averaged 14.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game, which ranked sixth, 10th and fifth in the league, respectively. The Overland Park, Kan., native led CUSA in field goal percentage (.575) and was sixth in free throw percentage (.788) throughout conference play. Her 26 blocked shots against CUSA foes were tied for second most in the conference. Douglas posted 15 double-digit scoring performances, including five 20-point outings, and five double-doubles in league action, and earned one conference player of the week honor during the season.
 
James secures a spot on the CUSA All-Defensive team after taking over as the starting point guard for the Lady Bears in her final college season. She ranked third in the league in steals per game with 2.7 and her 49 total steals in league action ranked second. The Goddard, Kan., native posted six games against CUSA competition with at least four steals and was the tone-setter for Missouri State's defense. James also ranked 12th in CUSA in assists per game and tallied 11 games with at least three assists in league play.
 
Washington represents the Lady Bears on the CUSA All-Freshman team following a standout debut season at Missouri State. In 18 conference games that featured eight starts, she averaged 8.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. The Fayetteville, Ark., native shot .465 (60-129) from the field and .707 (29-41) from the free throw line in league action. She ranked 13th in CUSA in total rebound average and sixth in defensive rebounds per game (5.1). Washington tallied nine double-figure scoring performances, five double-digit rebounding games and four double-doubles against CUSA opponents. She collected one conference freshman of the week honor during the season.
 
The No. 6 seed Lady Bears (19-12, 11-7 CUSA) will open their stay at the CUSA Women's Basketball Championship on Thursday, March 12. Missouri State will face No. 3 seed Middle Tennessee at 2:00 p.m. and the game will stream on ESPN+.
