VALPARAISO, Ind. – Missouri State women's cross country is set to compete at the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championships as the Bears will face nine fellow Valley teams at the league meet on Saturday, Nov. 2 in Valparaiso, Ind.

Valparaiso plays host to the five-kilometer women's race which has a start time of 11:30 a.m. at the Sunset Hill Farm County Park.

Missouri State was tabbed to finish fifth in the pre-championship poll of conference coaches.  Loyola was selected as the team to beat in the women's race as the Ramblers rank 9th in the latest USTFCCCA regional rankings.

"The conference championships is what we have been working towards all season long," said head coach Jordan Fife.  "Every race, every workout, and every training session we've done has been with our eyes on this meet."

MSU is led by junior Grace Breiten who turned in a top-5 finish in last year's race to earn All-MVC honors with a five-kilometer time of 17:21.67.  Breiten has been the top-finisher in four of the five meets this season for the Bears with her season-best five-kilometer time coming at the Chile Pepper Festival on Oct. 5 (17:28.3).

Along with Breiten, the Bears will send three additional runners with conference championship experience as Erica Wollmering, Jordyn Capra, and Edna Dar each competed in the 2018 MVC Championships.  Wollmering joined Breiten in the top-25 with a personal best 18:14.12 five-kilometer time to finish 24th.  Capra (18:33.1, 35th) and Dar (18:52.2, 44th) rounded out the scoring for an MSU team that finished sixth (139 points) in the 2018 meet.

"Having a great all-around performance from our 1-5 scoring will be key and gives us the chance to be successful on Saturday," added Fife.  "If we can focus on being our best self and trust our preparations, then we can see some great results."

After the Valley race, Missouri State will travel to Stillwater, Okla. for the 2019 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships which will be held on Nov 15.
