SPRINGFIELD – In a match with 30 total ties and 11 lead changes, the visiting UNI Panthers were able to come up with a key run in all three sets for a 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Missouri State's volleyball team Friday evening at Hammons Student Center.
Laynie Dake hit .529 with 11 kills to lead the MSU (3-14, 0-3 Missouri Valley Conference) offense,
Amelia Flynn had a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs, but the Panthers (10-8, 4-0) used a .261 attack efficiency and seven aces to grab the win.
The first set was tied 13 times, the last at 17-all during a 4-0 UNI run that resulted in a 20-17 lead. The Bears served for the tie five times but never pulled even, and both teams hit .300 or higher in the opening frame.
In a repeat performance, the second set was tied 10 times to a 13-all deadlock, and MSU freshman
Azyah Green had two of her five blocks during a 4-0 MSU run for a 16-13 advantage. The Panthers countered with a 5-0 spurt to regain the lead for good at 21-18.
The Panthers grabbed a 16-12 lead with a 4-0 run in a back-and-forth third set, and Green had three consecutive blocks to pull MSU within a point at 20-19. A Flynn kill again made it a one-point UNI lead at 21-20 before the Panthers closed the match with another 4-0 run.

MSU hit .206 as a team and had 11 blocks, while UNI held leads of 46-33 in kills, 47-46 in digs and 7-4 in aces.
The Bears host Drake (7-10, 1-3) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
