The Missouri State men's golf team gradually improved in round three of the Derek Dolenc Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. The Bears carded 299-289-287 for a team total of 875 to finish in eighth place, a jump up from 10th after round two.Â
Aside from a minor setback in round one, freshman
Carter Lee has maintained dominance as an individual in the standings. Lee fired 76-65-70–211 and finished in 6th place out of 96 golfers. The freshman's second round score of 65 ties for fourth in the Bears record book for single round scores.Â
Senior
Brad Carpenter fired off 77-70-69–216 to tie for 19th and
Kory Franks shot one stroke behind with 71-76-70–217.
Adam Fisher carded 75-72-74–221 to tie for 32nd.
Jack Knoesel tied for 51st carding 77-74-74–225 and
Lukas McCalla had 76-73-78–227.
In the team results, host SIUE took first with 842, Omaha came in second 12 strokes back with 854, IWCC was third with 856, followed by UT Martin (858), Bradley (859), DePaul (868), and Tennessee Tech(873). Coming in behind the Bears (875) are: Valparaiso (882), Creighton (882), Weber State (887), Western Illinois (891), Drake (894), Murray State (901), UNI (902), Loyola-Chicago (905), and Eastern Illinois (936).
