FAYETTVILLE, Ark. – The Missouri State women's cross country team records a sixth place overall finish (211 points) and forth place among Division I programs, Saturday morning at the Chile Pepper Festival.
"A little disappointed to fall a place from last year, but overall it was still a productive day for us with several lifetime bests," head coach
Jordan Fife said. "We are tightening up our scoring positions which is a good sign heading into the important meets at the end of the year. Our depth is improving by the week as well and that's a good sign"
Grace Breiten led the way for the Bears once again, marking a 17:39.6 five-kilometer race. Breiten's 5K time is in the program's top-20 all-time.
"Grace was solid up front again and Jordyn and Paityn had strong races for our number two and three spots." Fife said.
Jordyn Capra earned 37
th place with an 18:15.7 pace, while
Paityn Howat came in 46
th recording a 18:25.5 race.
Erica Wollmering and
Mercedes Robinson produced 63
rd and 71
st place finishes respectively. Wollmering improved her 5K time from last week, running an 18:39.9 competition, while Robinson ran her race in 18:45.5.
Edna Dar (75
th) and
Kayla Fallis (94
th) rounded out the Bears scoring lineup.
"We are ready to get the focus back on training for a few weeks after rare back to back races," Fife said.
Missouri State will be back in action on Oct. 12, as they travel to Peoria, Ill. to compete in the Bradley Pink Classic.
