SPRINGFIELD – For the second straight game, the Missouri State women's soccer team outshot its opponent only to come up short on the scoreboard, as the Bears fell 1-0 to visiting Louisiana Tech here Wednesday.

The Bears (3-3), who dropped their third straight, had some first-half scoring chances, but shots from Lauren Fisher and Anna Durnin early in the opening period both sailed off the mark.

Louisiana Tech's Kaylee Zettler scored the lone goal of the match at the 26-minute mark after receiving a pass from teammate Mylen Roy-Ouellet and launching it into the middle of the cage.

Missouri State tightened its defense in the second half, allowing just one shot during the final 45 minutes. Meanwhile, the Bears' kept pressure on the visitors, firing six shots at the net in the second half to no avail.

Ashley Coonfield, Kayleigh Putnam, and Durnin each logged multiple shots on the night for coach Rob Brewer's club. The Bears outshot Louisiana Tech (4-1) by a 9-6 margin for the match.

Both defenses were solid with MSU keeper Kaitlin Maxwell nabbing four saves.

Missouri State will conclude its four-match home swing this Friday against Omaha beginning at 6 p.m. at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.
