Bears Score Big at the Outdoor MVC Championship

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.  – Scoring the most team points in nine years (106), the Missouri State track & field team takes fifth place at the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championship. Eight Bears earn All-Conference honors including four during the final day of competition.
 
Scoring 13 team points on the weekend, Jamilah James earns MVC Freshman of the Year Honors. Jessica Allen checked in with her second straight outdoor Elite 17 honor for her performance on the track and in the classroom.
 
James and Daijha Heron take two of the top three spots in the triple jump, earning All-MVC accolades. James set a 12.29m leap to earn second place in the event, while Heron came in third with a 12.16m jump.
 
Amanthi Silva records a third place discus throw with a 41.65m toss, earning All-Conference honors.
 
Asha Cave was a force on the track today for the Bears. The junior ran in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and the 4x400m. Cave earned All-MVC honors in the 100m with a personal best pest 11.55 third place time, while in the 200m she set a personal record 23.37 fourth place time.
 
The Bears marked season best times in the 4x100m and 4x400m relay. The 4x100m relay took fourth place with a 45.58 time, before the 4x400m relay and marked a 3:43.00 fourth place finish.
 
Also earning top-eight placings during day three; Erica Wollmering (1,500m, 4:36.83, 6th), Chicago Bains (100m Hurdles, 13.87, 5th), Divina Henry (400m, 55.24, 5th), Paityn Howat (800m, 2:15.20, 7th) Isa Videler (400m Hurdles, 1:01.99) and Allen (5,000m, 17:40.00, 5th).
