36-Hole Results

Missouri State is in fourth place after the first day of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The Bears and the other eight teams dealt with occasional rain and wind during Monday's (Apr. 23) opening 36 holes at the tough Dalhousie Golf Club, a par 72, 7313-yard course that's hosted multiple MVC tournaments in the past.

The Bears opened with 309 in the morning round and improved to 302 in the afternoon for a first-day total of 611. Bradley is threatening to run away with the tournament, opening a 19-shot lead over pre-tournament favorite Illinois State and Southern Illinois with just Tuesday's 18 holes remaining. The Braves posted 298-289--587 compared to the 606 compiled by ISU and SIU. The Bears are next, 24 strokes back, followed by Valparaiso (613), Drake (614), Evansville (632), Loyola (634) and UNI (639).

Junior Jack Knoesel is leading the way for MSU after carding 79-72--151, placing him in a tie for 10th. Brad Carpenter is a stroke back and tied for 12th with 80-72--152, while Kory Franks is another shot behind with 72-81--153 and tied for 16th. Junior Adam Fisher is tied for 23rd after shooting 78-77--155 and sophomore Lukas McCalla is tied for 37th after a pair of 81's and a 162 total.

Bradley is holding down the top three spots in the individual standings with Drake Bushong setting the pace with 76-69--145, one over par. Teammates Michael Mounce and Ethan Brue are second and third, respectively, at 146 and 147.

Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin with 8 a.m. tee times off no. 1 and 10 tees.
