Millas Nabs Another MVC Player of the Week Honor

April 23, 2018

ST. LOUIS – For the third time in 2018, Drew Millas has been named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week after playing a pivotal role in Missouri State's three-game sweep of Illinois State, the league office announced Monday.

Millas turned in another torrid stretch at the plate, hitting .533 (8-for-15) with a pair of home runs and seven RBIs to help the Bears go 3-1 last week. He logged his third four-hit performance of the season against No. 3 Arkansas Tuesday, then drove in seven runs in the Bears' MVC series sweep of Illinois State. The Swansea, Ill., product went 2-for-3 with the decisive seventh-inning, three-run homer that snapped a 3-3 deadlock in an eventual 6-3 Bears victory, then helped finish off the sweep with another home run and three more RBIs in the finale—a 12-3 MSU win.

The MVC honor is the third in eight weeks for Millas, who picked up the same award on March 5 and April 9. It also marks the fifth time in six weeks a Missouri State player has earned either MVC Player or Pitcher of the Week and the sixth time overall in 2018 a Bear has received one of the two weekly Valley honors.

The Bears (25-11, 8-1 MVC) will bring a three-game win streak into their Tuesday (April 24) evening non-conference matchup with Missouri in Columbia. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. from Taylor Stadium.
