Track & Field Bears Set for Next Leg of the Outdoor Season

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team will compete in the Tom Botts Invitational (April 20-21) in Columbia, Mo., hosted by the University of Missouri. The two day meet will be held at Audrey J. Walton Stadium, beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Keeping Track of the Bears
  • Missouri State has competed at the Tom Botts Invitational each of the last two years. At last year's meet the Bears finished in fourth place as a team and saw a gold medal finish by Marissa Kurtimah in the 100-meter dash (11.55).
  • Missouri State will contest the meet in Columbia by sending a total of 30 student-athletes, competing in a projected 15 events.
  • MSU is ranked 20th in the USFCCCA Midwest Region, fourth best Missouri Valley team in the region.
  • Senior distance runner, Jessica Allen shattered the Missouri State 3,000-meter outdoor track and field record, at the John McDonnell Invitational.
  • Allen recorded a first place finish in the event with a 9:41.32 time. Allen outpaced the previous school record by six seconds and finished ahead of the next competitor by 10 seconds.
  • Sidne' Williamson recorded a wind adjusted long jump mark of 5.93m (19'6.25") in Fayetteville, Ark., good enough for a new personal best, longest long jump in the conference last weekend and sixth place in the event.
  • Grace Breiten (10:55.74) and Jordyn Capra (11:22.56) marked personal records in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, capturing first and second place respectively. Breiten is expected to run in the 1500m and Capra will be competing in the 5000m, while both are set to run the 800m.
  • Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, is in his 22nd season at the helm at Missouri State.
