-- Missouri State added another member to its 2018-19 freshman class Wednesday, as Dariauna (pronounced dare-ee-aw-nuh) Lewis, a 6-foot forward from Omaha (Neb.) North High, signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lady Bears next season.
"We are excited about adding Dariauna Lewis to our program as she brings more length and athleticism to our team," MSU head coach Kellie Harper
said of MSU's fifth signee for the upcoming season. "That athleticism is reflected in her ability to rebound, defend and score. Dariauna will round out a talented class of incoming freshmen."
Lewis was a four-year starter at forward and center for Omaha North, leading the Vikings in scoring and rebounding all four seasons on the way to setting numerous school records.
Lewis earned first-team all-state honors from the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star as a senior after setting school single-season records for scoring average (20.2), total points (464), rebounds (248) and field goals (184). She also took over the school's career scoring lead with 1,406 points and averaged 10.8 rebounds per game on the year, adding the single-game record with 17 field goals and posting a 42-point effort to finish one shy of the school mark.
She was a second-team all-state selection as a junior after leading North High to a 17-7 record, its best since 2001, and earned honorable mention all-state honors both her sophomore and freshman seasons. Lewis also played volleyball and ran track, earning a state runner-up finish in the 300-meter hurdles in 2017.
Missouri State also signed four high school seniors in November, including Mya Bhinhar (5-10, G, Owasso, Okla., Owasso High), Jasmine Franklin (6-2, F, Fayetteville, Ark., Fayetteville High), Sydney Manning (5-9, G, Edmond, Okla., Cashion High), and Sydney Wilson (6-0, G, Overland Park, Kan., Olathe East High).
