FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Junior Darian Frost was the lone Bear to record a hit as the Missouri State softball team (8-6) suffered a 9-0, five-inning loss at the hands of the Arkansas Razorbacks (10-1), Wednesday evening at Bogle Park.
Â
Starting pitcher Steffany Dickerson (2-2) recorded a pair of strikeouts to keep the Razorbacks at bay in the first inning, but a pair of identical, solo home runs put Arkansas on top 2-0 in the bottom of the second.
Â
In the bottom of the fourth, a pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases for the Razorbacks with just one out. On a 2-2 count, Arkansas' Hannah McEwen cleared the bases with a grand slam over the right-field fence and upped the Razorbacks' score, 6-0.
Â
Frost, who was the only Bear to reach base, broke up Arkansas starter Mary Haff's no-hitter in the top of the fifth when she lifted a single into center field. Sophomore Erin Griesbauer came in to run for Frost at first, but the Missouri State offense was unable to advance the runner.
Â
Arkansas put the game out of reach in the bottom of the frame with a three-run homer off of relief pitcher, Madison Hunsaker. The final blow of the state-line matchup, Arkansas tallied its ninth run of the game and ended the game after five innings.
