Track & Field Bears Open Indoor Season in Columbia

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team will kick off the 2018-19 indoor season at the Missouri Holiday Opener, hosted by the Missouri, on Friday, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Keeping Track of the Bears
  • A new era in Bears track and field begins with interim head coach Jordan Fife, along with assistant coaches Carmelita Jeter and Jake Brydson.
  • Fife came to MSU in 2014 and has been the Bears head cross country coach for the past five seasons, while also serving as an assistant track and field coach.
  • The Bears open up the season at the Missouri Holiday Opener in Columbia, Mo. for the second time in three years.
  • Last year at the Missouri Holiday Opener the Bears' logged four first place finishes, led by Jamilah James who hit a 12.31m triple jump and also took second in the long jump with a 5.69m long jump.
  • Brittany McPike holds four of the top five weight throws in school history, setting the school record last year at the MVC Indoor Championship with an 18.53-meter throw.
  • MSU enters the indoor season picked fifth the Missouri Valley Conference pre-season poll.
