SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State men's soccer head coach
Jon Leamy announced the addition of five players who will be joining the team for the 2019 season this week.
"Coming off a season in 2018 where we only lost two games, the 2019 class will be important to go from strength to strength," according to associate head coach/sport director
Michael Seabolt. "The current team and the 2019 additions have their sights set very high. We know we have to be even stronger in 2019 so that nothing stands in the way of achieving our goals of winning the MVC title and tasting success in the NCAA tournament. The announcement of these five additions represents a big step forward in our recruiting for 2019, but there is more to come."
Connor Bates (Fr. • MF • Canton, Minn. • Shattuck-St. Mary's)
Bates has competed four years at Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, Minn. He was the leading scorer on the U19 academy in 2018. He also started 16 of 23 games with the U17 Academy. Bates played up in the U16 team in 2016-17 and was invited four times to US Soccer training in Minnesota.
"Connor comes from Shattuck-St. Mary's, a school where we have prior successful history," Seabolt said. "He is another top American talent who will be a good midfield presence or can take an attacking roll. We are looking forward to him joining the program."
Hunter Daniels (Fr. • F • Nixa, Mo. • Nixa High School)
Daniels has started and lettered for Nixa High School all four years, while also competing with Sporting Springfield. During his senior season, Daniels set the Nixa one week goals scored record, with nine goals and three assists in four games. He led the Eagles to a Kickapoo tournament title and racked up 28 goals and 21 assists on the season. At Sporting Springfield, he helped win two state cups, in 2016 and 2018.
"Hunter Daniels is a local player from Springfield and is a two time state champion from Sporting Springfield," Seabolt explained. "I've coached him since he was 15 and he is a very good attacking player, who will continue our tradition of keeping the best local talent home at Missouri State University."
Emerson Krause (Fr. • MF/D • Farmington, Mo • St. Louis FC)
A part of the St. Louis Soccer Club academy and the US Soccer Developmental Academy. He played in 19 matches this season, helping his squad to a third place conference finish. Emerson competed in 28, 27 and 28 games respectively in his U17, U16 and pre-developmental academy years.
"Emmerson Krause plays for the prestigious St. Louis FC academy," Seabolt said, "he is a midfielder or defender and we feel like he is a player that can come in and make an immediate impact."
Declan O'Hare (Fr. • MF • Nottingham, England • Toot Hill, Nottingham)
O'Hare played soccer for four years at Toot Hill, earning a county championship. Declan also competed for the youth academy of Lincoln City FC, the same club that developed former Bear standout, and current assistant coach,
Jack Roberts.
"Declan is a top English player that played for Lincoln FC," Seabolt said, "who we feel can be a very strong midfielder for us and help us to future Missouri Valley championships and beyond."
Max Schliebener (Fr. • MF • Kalmar, Sweden • Oskarshams AIK)
Schliebener trained with Oskarshams AIK, scored two goals and added six assists in his final season with OAIK. Scored three goals and assisted eight as he captained the team in 2017.
"Max is a center midfielder that we are excited about," Seabolt said, "we feel he will bring an attacking presence to the team. He has a strong club background and we are excited Max is joining the Missouri State Bear family."
