SPRINGFIELD - Missouri State men's soccer (3-0-0) dominated against Chicago State (0-4-0), finding the back of the goal five times on Sunday night in front of another packed home crowd at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.

It marked the Bears' first time scoring more than three goals in three consecutive matches since Oct. 5-13, 2019.

Head coach Michael Seabolt spoke on the offensive discipline and success of the Bears this season.

"There is real commitment from the guys who play a team game and move the ball and share it and as you can see the goals are coming from a lot of different places and that's a compliment to the guys just playing good football and being unselfish," said Seabolt. "I'm proud of the guys."

The Bears eased into the match, creating opportunities and continually pressing forward into the Cougars defense. In the 22nd minute, freshman Dani González found a way to be in the right place at the right time, to place the Bears first goal into the bottom left of the net off of an assist by 5th year Adrián Esteban.

"It's a great feeling sharing it with the boys as well, such a good group of lads and it's a team goal more than anything," stated González after his very first goal for Mo State.

In the 35th minute, senior Alex Rodriguez capitalized on a penalty, sending the ball into the bottom left of the net to put the Bears up 2-0.

Mo State built on the momentum in the second half, with senior Daniel Souza speeding into the goal area and securing a goal from a double assist by 5th year Diego Real and junior Victor Wachowicz in the 56th minute.

Another penalty opportunity presented itself as the clock hit 63:00, and senior Fionn Mooney struck gold into the bottom right of the net to tally the Bears' fourth goal of the night.

In the 80th minute, freshman Nicolae Velicico also scored his very first goal as a Bear with poise and precision from a shot off his left foot.

Missouri State ended the night with 34 shots with 15 on goal, while the Cougars shot four shots with one on goal. The Bears tallied eight corner kicks, to the Cougars none. Mo State made one save while Chicago State made 10.

"We challenged ourselves in the preseason playing Creighton at a neutral side up in Kansas City and went on the road to Lindenwood, so we prepared for it," stated Seabolt ahead of the Bear's upcoming first road game.

"The guys are used to being on the road when they need to be and we'll just keep the rhythm going and try to keep it as normal as possible and like I said we've been there and we'll be ready for it."

The Bears are back on the pitch for their next match on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 8:00 p.m. (CT) to compete at UC Irvine.
