SPRINGFIELD – After 110 minutes of action, the Missouri State women's soccer team drew, 1-1, for the first time this season against conference foe Indiana State here Saturday.
 
Missouri State would wait until late in the first half to strike with newcomer Grace Heenan scoring the Bears lone goal with a shot straight into the middle of the box at the 41-minute mark, giving them the 1-0 edge. The score marked Heenan's first collegiate goal.  
 
The Bears would lead for two minutes before Indiana State's Katie Wells knocked in the tying goal off the corner kick to even the score, 1-1, heading into intermission.
 
Reigning MVC Newcomer of the Week Kennady Orlick threatened early in the second with a shot that was saved by Indiana State.
 
Olina Einarsdottir and Ashley Coonfield each had chances at the net but came up short to send the contest into overtime.
 
Indiana State's header shot at the 95-minute mark was blocked to send both teams into double overtime.
 
Heenan would clear two more shot attempts in the second overtime period, including one that would sail just wide in the closing minute.
 
Missouri State outshot the Sycamores, 11-9, and doubled Indiana State's shots on goal 6-3. Heenan led the Bears with three shots in the match.
 
After garnering MVC defensive player of the week honors, Kaitlin Maxwell continued her efforts tacking on two saves.

"Grace Heenan scored a fantastic goal today," said head coach Rob Brewer. "We played much better after halftime and created several good chances, and will focus on improving for the next match."

The Bears will travel to Valparaiso on Saturday, Oct. 13, with kick off starting at 7 p.m.
