SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State's women's cross country team is set travel to Peoria, Ill., for the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, hosted by Bradley.
The Bears will compete in the five-kilometer championship at the Newman Golf Course, starting at 10:30 a.m.
The Bears will face off against the other nine league foes, including Bradley and Loyola, who are ranked in the USTFCCCA Midwest regional top-15. MSU is picked to finish sixth in the pre-championship coaches poll, which is topped by Bradley.
The Bears have been led this season by red shirt sophomore
Grace Breiten, who comes in to the race with the third fastest 5K in the conference (17:38.2) that she marked earlier this season at Joplin. Her 5K personal best also sits as the 14th fastest 5K in school history.
Last year Breiten earned all-MVC honorable mention, marking a 13
th place finish at a 17:58.34 pace in the championship.
Jordyn Capra checks in with the eighth best 5K in the conference. Running a personal best 18:05.0 pace at Joplin, earlier this season. At this meet last year, Capra took 35
th place with an 18:41.39 time.
After the league championship, Missouri State will turn its attention to the NCAA Regional on Nov. 9, also in Peoria, Ill.
