SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team will jump back into the 2017-18 indoor season at the Pittsburg State Invitational, hosted by Pittsburg State University, on Saturday, Jan 27. The Bears will start with the 5,000m run at 10:15 a.m., while field events start at 11 a.m. with the shot put.Â

Keeping Track of the Bears
- For the second time in three years the Bears will be competing at the Pittsburg State Invitational. In 2016 the Bears came home with three first place finishes and grabbed nine top-five placings.
- The Bears have competed in three events so far this season, racking up seven individual first place finishes.
- Brittany McPike set a new personal record two weeks ago at the Arkansas Invitational in the weight throw. McPike tossed a 17.24m attempt to win the event and rank eight in the Missouri Valley Conference in weight throw.
- The Bears ran a long distance event for the first time this season at the Arkansas Invitational (1/12). MSU placed three in the top 20 led by Paityn Howat who finished with a 5:08.40 time. Â
- The Bears will send 31 student-athletes to Harvey Dean Track / Robert W. Plaster Center.
- Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, enters his 22nd season at the helm. MSU enters this season picked fifth the Missouri Valley Conference pre-season poll.
