SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State men's soccer team picked up its fifth straight win Saturday with a 1-0 shutout victory over Valparaiso. The Bears improved to 6-2-1 (3-0 MVC) with their fourth straight shutout.

The win also marked Head Coach Jon Leamy's 250th win at Missouri State, he has helmed the Bears for 26 seasons.

"It's conference play, so it's going to be tough and physical," MSU head coach Jon Leamy said. "They're playing for points, we're playing for points and getting win number three was huge."

Freshman Josh Dolling recorded the only score of the game off a penalty kick at the 23:59 mark. The PK attempt came after a Valpo foul in the box. Dolling's game winner marked his first goal of the season.

"Josh Dolling made a great play," Leamy said. "Got pulled down for the penalty and finished it."

MSU kept the Crusaders to eight total shots during the game with just two on goal. Five of the eight shots came in the second half.

"When we go up 1-0 you know what is coming," Leamy said. "More direct play, more physical. The boys did a great job handling it. Huge shutout for us and win number three."

MSU senior Liam Priestley held up his sixth shutout of the season and fourth consecutive. Priestley has recorded 20 shutouts in his career, which moves him to fourth overall in Missouri State history.

Offensively, the Bears got off 6 total shots with two shots on goal. Senior Conor Ingram and Dolling led the way with two shots each.

The Bears will travel to Oral Roberts Tuesday, Oct. 3 at to finish out non-conference play before heading to Bradley on Saturday Oct. 7.
