SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – UMKC netted three goals in the first four minutes of play as the Missouri State women's soccer team (4-6-0) suffered a 4-0 shutout to the Kangaroos, Friday night at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.

The Roos jumped on the board 51 seconds into the match and managed to sneak a shot past starting goalkeeper
Kaitlin Maxwell to take an early 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, UMKC upped the score, 2-0, thanks to a header off a corner kick.

In the third minute of the match, UMKC netted its third goal – resulting in a MSU goalkeeping change. Freshman
Lexi Palacio made her second appearance of the season and managed to keep the Roos at bay for the remainder of the half.

Missouri State sought to lessen the deficit, outshooting UMKC 8-6 in the first half and 7-5 in the second, but was unable to put the ball in the goal. Newcomer
Emma Skornia led the Bears with four shots, while three Bears –
Ashley Coonfield,
Brooke Zimmerman and
Brooke Zenner – recorded two shots.

The Roos' final blow came in the 57
th minute as UMKC's Lexie Howard scored the fourth goal of the match and her second of the night. Maxwell took the loss for the Bears and falls to 4-6 on the season. Palacio recorded three saves while allowing one goal.

The Bears return to Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium Sunday, Sept. 17, for a 1 p.m. contest against Tulsa. Following the match, the team will offer a free, 30-minute kid's clinic (K-8th grade).
