Conway, Ark. – In a double overtime contest, the Missouri State men's soccer team came out on top, 2-1 over Central Arkansas. The Bears claim their second win of the season and first in conference play, to improve to 2-2-1 on the year.
The Bears offense came alive in the first half of play. MSU recorded a season high, seven shots in the first 45 minutes of action. The Bears also had a season high 15 total shots and seven corner kicks throughout the 107 minute contest.
MSU gave up one goal to UCA's Daltyn Krutson at the 26:56 mark. Krutson was assisted by Ferdinand Matebu off a corner kick. MSU's defense held Central Arkansas to nine shots during the game with five aimed at goal.
The first goal by the Bears came from junior
Conor Ingram at the 56 minute mark. Ingram's second goal of the season came off a shot deflection in the box from nine yards out. Ingram also recorded a team high five shots with three aimed at goal.
Junior
Harry Lewis headed home the game winner off of Ingram's penalty kick attempt at the 106:51 mark. The rebound score came in sudden death double overtime to give the Bears the victory. The goal marked Lewis' second of the season.
