Missouri State will Host Four MVC Championships in 2017-18

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State University has been selected to serve as the host institution for four Missouri Valley Conference championship events during the 2017-18 academic year, the league announced Thursday (June 1).

Conference administrators approved the slate for the coming year at annual meetings here. MSU will host the league championships in men's and women's cross country (Oct. 28), women's soccer (Nov. 3-5), women's golf (April 15-17) and women's team tennis (April 27-29).

The Bears will serve as hosts for four of The Valley's 13 events held on campus sites.

MSU will host the 2017 MVC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships at the Springfield Underground Course, Oct. 28. Missouri State, which only fields a women's team, last hosted the MVC Championship meets in 2008.

The 2017 MVC Women's Soccer Championship will be at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium, on Nov. 3-5. The top six teams (of seven) advance to the championship, and the top two seeds receive a first-round bye. First-round games are on campus sites and will be played Sunday, Oct. 29. The semifinals are Friday, Nov. 3, and the championship is Sunday, Nov. 5. Opened in 2014, the stadium features a full size soccer field with a state-of-the-art double-sided video board and has permanent seating for 1,500. MSU last hosted the Women's Soccer Championships in 2011, but this is the first time the event has been held at Allison South.

The 2018 MVC Women's Tennis Team Championship will be played April 27-29 at Cooper Tennis Complex. The facility features 12 indoor courts, 17 lighted outdoor courts, including the Mediacom Stadium court that seats 2,500. The complex has hosted Fed Cup play, ATP and WTA professional tournaments, NCAA Division II National Championships. Home of the Springfield Lasers Pro Tennis Team, Cooper also includes a full-service pro shop with racquet stringing and grip services, locker rooms and a large meeting area. MSU last hosted the event in 2003.

MSU will also serve as the host institution for the 2018 Women's Golf Championship, to be held April 15-17 in Newton, Kan.
