Track & Field Set to Start Indoor Season at Kansas

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team opens the 2017-18 indoor slate at the Bob Timmons Challenge, hosted by the University of Kansas, on Saturday. The Bears will begin competition at with the weight throw, before starting action on the track at 3:30 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles.

Keeping Track of the Bears
  • For the third straight season, Missouri State will open indoor competition at the Bob Timmons Challenge at the University of Kansas. Last season, the Bears' combined for six personal bests and 10 top-five performances while returners Daijha Heron and Marissa Kurtimah both recorded two top-three performances in their respective events.
  • Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, enters his 22nd season at the helm. MSU enters this season picked fifth the Missouri Valley Conference pre-season poll, announced by the league on Thursday.
  • Top returning athletes for the Bears from last season include; Marissa Kurtimah, Brittany McPike, Dijha Heron, Grace Breiten, Madeline Saville and Jessica Allen. This group of student-athletes finished in the top eight in the 2017 MVC indoor championship.
  • Missouri State will focus on sprints and field events at the Bob Timmons Challenge. The longest race for the Bears will be the 400-meter run and the 4x400m relay.
