SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State's women's cross country team enters postseason as the Bears compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Ames, Iowa.
MSU is one of 35 Division I teams and six Missouri Valley Conference squads entered in the meet, which will be a six-kilometer course. The women's race begins at 10:45 a.m. at the ISU Cross Country Couse on Iowa State's campus.
Missouri State's seven entries in Friday's race includes four upper classmen: senior
Jessica Allen -- MSU's top finisher in every race this season, junior
Jordyn Capra, junior
Madeline Saville and junior
Renae Buschling. Freshman
Grace Breiten, sophomore
Erica Wollmering and sophomore
Paityn Howat round out the Bears squad for the event.
The top two teams from each of the nine regional races will advance to the NCAA Division I Championship races -- Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky. The remaining 13 at-large teams are selected by the NCAA Division I Cross Country Subcommittee. By being one of the top four regional finishers not on an advancing team a runner will become one of the thirty-six individuals to automatically qualify to the national championships races. Two additional individuals are selected at-large by the committee.
Minnesota, Iowa State and Oklahoma State are the favored women's teams in the Midwest Regional. A year ago, Missouri State was 30th in the field of 33 team entries at the Midwest Regional meet in Iowa City, Iowa.
