PEORIA, Ill. – The top seeded Missouri State men's soccer team moves on in the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference Championship after advancing past Evansville 6-5 on penalty kicks Friday evening at Shea Stadium. The Bears advance to their second straight tournament final and sixth in the last 10 seasons.
Through 90 minutes of action the match stayed in deadlock at 0-0 with both squads getting solid looks at goal. MSU attempted 16 shots with five aimed at goal led by
Stuart Wilkin with five efforts.

Defensively the Bears allowed UE to get 18 shots off including six aimed at goal. Ten of Evansville's shot endeavors came in the second half.

With no score in regulation the match advanced to overtime. During the two overtime periods only three total shots were attempted between the two squads, but neither team could connect, sending the game into PKs.

Both teams connected their first two attempts in the shootout. In the third round
Ian Jones saw his shot get saved by the Aces goalkeeper Matthew Keller making the score 3-2 in Evansville favor.

Liam Priestley pulled in a massive save to keep the Bears in the match and allow Wilkin to even the score to 3-3.

The next two rounds saw conversations on both sides to move the score to 5-5. Priestley came up with another amazing save to start the seventh round to give the advantage to the Bears.

Ian Wu lined up for the possible game winning kick and went straight for the ball, banking it in on the left side of the goal to advance the Bears to the championship game.

The Bears look for their second MVC Tournament title Sunday at 1 p.m. against Central Arkansas.
