Soccer Bears Return Home to Face Drake

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State (8-2-1/4-0) men's soccer team will return home to put the nation's second longest win streak on the like against Drake (3-9-1/0-3-1), Saturday at 6 p.m. in Missouri Valley Conference action.

Know the Bears
  • MSU currently holds the second longest winning streak in the nation, siting at seven-straight. The Bears also have the second-best conference win streak in the country.
  • The streak includes the most consecutive 1-0 shutouts in Missouri State history (6). The Bears sit second in the NCAA in shutout percentage.
  • MSU ranks second in the west region of the United Soccer Coaches Association and are receiving votes in the national poll. The Bears also led the league at No. 32 in the NCAA RPI report.
  • The Bears 'bend, but don't break' defense has given up 124 shots through 11 games, but only given up four goals. MSU's goals against average is the lowest in the Missouri Valley and third lowest in the NCAA (.349).
  • Senior goalkeeper Liam Priestley has held up eight shutouts this season and six consecutive. Priestley has recorded 22 shutouts in his career, which ranks him third overall in Missouri State history. Priestley also has garbed 42 saves this season. He ranks second in the nation in save percentage.
  • Priestley was honored as the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week and College Soccer News National Player of the Week for his shutouts over Bradley and Oral Roberts last week.
  • Junior Conor Ingram netted in the game winning goal in the key MVC match against Bradley. Ingram ranks first in the conference and third nationally in game winning goals and has scored points in six of the last eight games this season.
  • United Soccer Coaches announced Missouri State as one of the Team Academic Award Winners that recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2016-17 academic year.

  • The Bulldogs are looking for its first win in league play siting at 0-3-1.
  • Drake is second in the conference in saves. Averaging 4.58 a game.
  • Leroy Enzugusi paces the Bulldogs in goals scored (4) and shot attempts (25).
 
Series History
Drake
Missouri State holds a 13-12-6 all-time series lead over Drake. The last meeting between the two teams took place on Oct. 15, 2016, in Springfield. The match ended in a 1-1 tie in double overtime. MSU last took on Drake on the road on Oct. 3, 2015 where the Bulldogs took the victory. The Bears hold a 6-5-3 record over the Bulldogs at home.
