Men's Golf Winds Up Ninth in Louisiana


Final Results

The Missouri State golf team came home with a ninth-place finish Tuesday (Sept. 20) at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate in Choudrant, La. After entering the day eighth in the 13-team field, the Bears carded 296 in the final round and dropped a spot with a three-round total of 887 after opening with 296-295.

Louisiana Monroe went wire-to-wire to capture the team title with 857, four better than Central Arkansas and its 861. Lamar was third with 864, followed by Southern Mississippi (872), Houston Baptist (874), Southeastern Louisiana (881), Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky (885), the Bears, Stephen F. Austin (889), Incarnate Word (898), Abilene Christian (903) and New Orleans (922).

Sophomore Jack Knoesel led the way for MSU, tying for 23rd with 73-75-72--220 in three trips around Squire Creek Golf Club. Sophomore Adam Fisher was a shot back with 74-74-73--221 and tie for 29th, while freshman Christopher Obert tied for 37th after shooting 74-72-77--223. Sophomore Brad Carpenter posted 75-80-75--230 and freshman Lukas McCalla had 81-74-76--231.

The Bears are back in action next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 26-27) at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in suburban St. Louis.
