JOPLIN, Mo. – Missouri State junior
Jessica Allen posted a personal-best time of 18:05.71 here Saturday to help the cross country Bears to a solid performance at the 27
th Annual Missouri Southern Stampede.

Jordan Fife's squad boasted nine runners who completed the five-kilometer course in under 20 minutes, including three who registered times under 19 minutes. In addition to Allen's effort, which ranked second among all the Division I entries, senior
Savannah Beaver Aleckson turned in a mark of 18:46.87 – sixth in the Division I field – and sophomore
Jade Raynor finished in 18:59.27, which was seventh.

In just her second collegiate race, freshman
Erica Wollmering crossed the line in 19:19.08 (9
th), while classmate
Jordyn Capra also scored for MSU with a time of 19:26.47 (10
th). Senior
Megan Nickles posted a career-best 19:50.15, and sophomore
Mercedes Robinson (19:56.40) also pushed for Missouri State, while
Alyson Jones (19:56.59) and
Claire Schwarz (19:59.12) also got to the finish before the 20-minute mark.

The Bears (34 points) finished close behind Arkansas (21) in the two-team Division I team standings, but Missouri State's average individual finish time of 18:55.48 was the sixth-best women's college performance at the meet, which included 40 teams from all levels.

Missouri State will have two weeks to prepare for its next meet, which takes place Oct. 1 in Fayetteville, Ark., at the annual Chile Pepper Festival. The five-kilometer race gets underway at 10:20 a.m.
