Missouri State men's golf coach Neal Stafford has announced the addition of Jack Knoesel (pronounced Kuh-NA-zel) to his squad for the 2016-17 season. Knoesel is a Columbia, Mo., native who will be transferring from the the University of Tulsa, which discontinued its program at the conclusion of the recently-completed season.
Knoesel, who will be a sophomore for the Bears, led Tulsa with a 75.0 scoring average this past season. He posted the team's best 18- and 54-hole scores with 65 and 210, respectively. His best finish was a tie for 18th at the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz.
Knoesel was a four-time all-district and two-time all-state selection at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia. He finished second at the Columbia City Championship last summer, placed second at USGA Amateur qualifying with rounds of 67-75 and placed second at the Rich Poe Invitational with 71-70.
The Bears have two of their top five in scoring average returning from the team that finished fourth at last month's Missouri Valley Conference Championship.
